Location: Stroud, Gloucestershire

Hours: Full Time, Day Shift Monday to Friday 
(must have flexibility as you may need to work on weekends)

Salary: £12.21 p/hour 
 


Key Responsibilities of a Warehouse Driver

  • Collect and deliver shop donations, furniture, general donations, and rag collections from donors, businesses, and donation points.
  • Transport goods between the warehouse, retail shops, and local authority disposal sites for items unsuitable for resale.
  • Deliver purchased furniture and goods to customers in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Carry out house clearances, ensuring items are removed respectfully and safely.
  • Load and unload items safely, always using proper manual handling techniques.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks (tyres, lights, oil, and roadworthiness) and report defects or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of company vehicles.
  • Accurately complete and maintain records in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Support warehouse operations, including sorting, storing, and preparing stock for distribution to shops.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with donors, customers, shop staff, volunteers, and members of the public.
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse staff, shop teams, and volunteers to ensure smooth logistics and stock flow.
  • Assist in identifying and separating items for resale, recycling, or disposal.
  • Operate a forklift when required (training provided if necessary).
  • Carry out ad hoc duties to support the wider retail and warehouse operation.
  • Be flexible with working hours/days to meet the needs of the business.
  • Represent the charity positively and professionally at all times.

Key Skills of a Warehouse Driver

  • Previous experience in a driving or warehouse role, ideally with furniture handling and retail logistics.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
  • Friendly, respectful, and professional manner with excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of manual handling techniques and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, including with volunteers.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (Category B essential; Category C1 desirable).
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to train).
  • Knowledge of the local area for efficient route planning.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including occasional weekends if required.
