Vac Caster / Finisher

Location: Gloucester
Hours: 07:00–15:00 Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: Competitive with benefits

Key Responsibilities of a Vac Caster / Finisher:

  • Vacuum casting plastic models of varying sizes and complexity using silicone moulds
  • Finishing components by hand and with small machine tools
  • Inspecting parts to ensure quality standards are met
  • Understanding the behaviour of silicone tools and adjusting processes for optimal performance
  • Working proactively with downstream departments

Key Skills of a Vac Caster / Finisher:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Logical decision-making skills
  • Strong hand-to-eye coordination and dexterity
  • Physically fit and confident in a workshop environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Competent using measuring equipment such as Verniers
  • Good communication skills, a strong team player, flexible and able to work under pressure
  • Reliable with excellent timekeeping

Desirable Skills:

  • Vacuum casting or finishing experience, or similar transferable skills
  • Recognised engineering or mechanical apprenticeship
  • Problem-solving attitude
  • Computer literacy
  • Previous experience in modelmaking, fettling, or a craft/artistic background
