Salary: £28,000 – £30,000
Job Description
Our client is seeking a proactive and highly organised Transport & Service Coordinator to join their team in Heysham. This is a fast-paced and central role within the business, responsible for ensuring transport operations, vehicle servicing, and customer requirements run smoothly and efficiently.
This position would suit someone who enjoys coordinating multiple activities, communicating confidently with drivers and customers, and solving problems to keep operations on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily transport schedules, allocating vehicles, drivers, and routes.
- Monitor live transport operations and resolve any delays or issues that arise.
- Act as the key point of contact for drivers, customers, and service partners.
- Maintain accurate records including bookings, delivery notes, compliance documentation, and service logs.
- Ensure all transport operations comply with UK regulations and company policies.
- Arrange vehicle maintenance, repairs, and third-party servicing.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and cost control.
- Support incident response including breakdowns or service disruptions.
- Produce reports on KPIs, utilisation, and service performance.
- Liaise closely with warehouse, customer service, procurement, and management teams.
Key Skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear and confident communication skills when liaising with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- Practical problem-solving approach with the confidence to make decisions independently.
- High attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining records and documentation.
- IT confident, including transport systems, scheduling tools, and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of UK transport regulations, including driver hours, tachographs, and vehicle safety.
- Customer-focused mindset with a positive, proactive “can-do” attitude.
- Experience in transport coordination, logistics, fleet operations, or a similar operational role.
- Reliable, adaptable, and able to remain calm when managing busy or unexpected situations.
- Logistics qualifications or CPC knowledge would be advantageous.
