Technical Parts Advisor

 

Location: Quedgeley, Gloucestershire  
Hours: Full time Monday to Friday, early finish on a Friday 

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum 

 

A growing engineering company is seeking a technically minded and customer-focused individual to join its small but dynamic team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring a high level of customer service and driving parts sales growth across a range of engine brands and applications. 

 

Key Responsibilities of a Technical Parts Advisor:

  • Identify and supply correct engine parts based on customer needs and technical specifications. 

  • Prepare quotations for parts, short/long blocks, and replacement engines. 

  • Process sales orders and related documentation efficiently. 

  • Handle customer enquiries and follow up on quotes to secure sales. 

  • Support sales administration during busy periods or staff absence. 

  • Assist in developing new initiatives such as rebuild and block programmes. 

  • Manage procurement and supplier relationships for spare parts. 

  • Work with the team to explore new sales opportunities and product lines. 

  • Support marine and industrial sales when required. 

  • Attend trade shows and exhibitions, occasionally on weekends. 

  • Serve both trade and public customers with technical and commercial advice. 

 

Key Skills of a Technical Parts Advisor:

  • Strong customer service orientation with a professional telephone manner. 

  • Good technical knowledge of petrol and diesel engines. 

  • Confident using web-based parts manuals and online resources. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). 

  • Experience with ERP or stock management systems (e.g., Iris Exchequer) is desirable. 

  • High attention to detail with accurate data entry and documentation. 

  • Organised and capable of prioritising tasks in a busy environment. 

  • Able to follow structured processes while being flexible when needed. 

  • A team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
