Technical Author

Location: Worcester, Worcestershire
Hours: Full Time | Permanent | Monday-Friday 8hr days (flexible)
Salary: £29,000-£40,000 per annum

Job Description

Our client is recruiting a Technical Author to join their European Engineering team. Reporting to a Team Leader or Senior Design Manager, the role will focus on the production and maintenance of technical documentation for the products and options produced by the company.

Key Responsibilities of a Technical Author

  • Create and continuously maintain Operating Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, Detail Specifications, and spare parts lists.
  • Administer and maintain internal technical documentation.
  • Manage assembly instructions and machine manuals.
  • Oversee technical files and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all documentation meets company standards.
  • Deliver documents within agreed timescales.

Key Skills of a Technical Author

  • HNC/HND qualification or equivalent in an engineering-related subject is essential.
  • A strong engineering background, with machine tool experience preferred.
  • Previous technical writing experience in an engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems (e.g., CATIA Composer / CREO Illustrate
  • Competence with Microsoft Office (especially MS Word) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • The ability to work both in a team and independently.
