Key Responsibilities of a Senior Design Engineer:
- Interpret customer specifications and develop engineered design solutions
- Produce 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and bills of materials
- Perform engineering calculations and technical analysis
- Conduct FEA analysis and validate design performance
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and customer requirements
- Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing
- Review drawings and BOMs for accuracy
- Participate in continuous improvement and product development activities
- Mentor and support junior engineers
- Represent the engineering function at customer and internal meetings
- Deputise for the Principal Engineer when required
Key Skills of a Senior Design Engineer:
- Degree or recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong 3D CAD design experience
- Experience designing high-pressure equipment
- Knowledge of API, ISO, PED and ASME design standards
- Experience carrying out engineering calculations and FEA
- Understanding of DFM and DFA principles
- Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes
- Experience using MRP systems and engineering databases
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
