Sales Engineer

Location: Hucknall, Nottinghamshire

Salary: £32,000 + commission + 15% bonus

Key Responsibilities of a Sales Engineer:

  • Promote the company’s product range to key stakeholders, including procurement teams, site managers, small business owners, contract managers, and materials coordinators for insulation contractors, distributors, and end users such as hospitals, schools, and commercial buildings.
  • Engage with existing and potential customers via phone, email, and LinkedIn.
  • Prospect new business opportunities using internet searches, LinkedIn, and trade publications.
  • Identify new markets and customer applications for the product range.
  • Develop and maintain a customer database using CRM software, ensuring all clients are managed to maximise business opportunities.
  • Utilise CRM prospecting tools to establish customer communication and assess potential annual spend.
  • Collaborate with internal sales engineers to ensure tenders are effectively managed to secure business.
  • Manage the proposal lifecycle from initial contact to product delivery, working closely with sales engineers, sales managers, and the operations team.
  • Assist the operations team with customer delivery requests and issue resolution.
  • Maintain sales activity records and prepare relevant sales reports.
  • Follow up on sales reports to ensure all actions are completed promptly.

Key Skills of a Sales Engineer:

  • Previous experience in outbound sales, ideally within the insulation or heating and ventilation market.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach with a flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to sell to customers over the phone and via email.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Salary up to £32,000 per annum, depending on experience
