Quality Engineer

Location: Tewksbury

Hours: 38 hours per week

Salary: Up to £38k per annum  

Our fantastic client, a leading provider of engineering solutions, is looking to expand their well-established team! They have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join their growing workforce. In this role, you will work closely with Operations/Shop Floor teams, Customers, and Suppliers to ensure all quality processes run smoothly.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Quality Engineer role, with a strong background in leading quality improvement programs and participating in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.

Key Responsibilities of a Quality Engineer:

• Proficient in using quality tools and techniques such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 8D problem-solving.
• Comprehensive understanding of the quality elements within the NPI process.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, including geometric tolerances.
• Create and manage quality assurance documentation, including First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), and Quality Plans.
• Preferably experienced in CMM programming (Aberlink software).
• Working knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

Key Skills of a Quality Engineer:

• Previous experience in a quality assurance role, ideally within a machine shop environment and in sectors such as aerospace, defense, or nuclear.
• Minimum HNC in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering.
• External Auditor trained; LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
• Competence in reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings, including geometric tolerances.
• Experience in participating in or leading third-party supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
