Production Planner

Location: Tewkesbury
Hours: Day shift
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities of a Production Planner

• Ensure work is loaded in the most efficient manner, maintaining customer delivery dates.
• Maintain up to date tracking of live works orders.
• Produce monthly and weekly forward loading for each resource, including manual operations such as deburring, inspection, and packing/despatch.
• Monitor progress against the production schedule, proactively alert machinists to delays and support them to stay on track to meet output targets.
• Physically move jobs to the next processes in a timely manner.
• Ensure all subcontract order requirements are allocated for purchasing in a timely manner.
• Ensure raw material is issued in a timely manner.
• Ensure Bill of Materials are up to date with accurate set and cycle times recorded.
• Ensure all raw material and finished goods stocks are accurate and correctly issued to works orders.
• Identify production constraints and work with shop floor management to allocate appropriate resources to resolve them.
• Implement continuous improvement strategies where opportunities are identified.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards such as ISO 13485.
• Identify and troubleshoot production bottlenecks to improve efficiency.
• Monitor and report on KPIs and production performance.
• Prioritise workflow to ensure orders are completed monthly, meeting budgeted sales targets.
• Raise purchase requisitions for subcontract operations.
• Complete administration within SAGE 200 and Preactor systems.
• Liaise with other departments and handle requests for information and data.
• Adhere to existing working practices, procedures, and undertake relevant training and development activities.
• Comply at all times with the company’s Quality Control procedures.
• Comply at all times with the company’s Health and Safety policy.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance product quality.
• Carry out any other duties as requested by management.

Key Skills of a Production Planner

• Proven experience as a Production Planner within a fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and process optimisation is desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and quality control.
• Excellent computer literacy, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience with SAGE 200 or IFS is desirable, although training will be provided.
• Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent, or above.
