Location:
Stroud
Hours:
Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4:30pm, Friday 7:30am – 2:00pm (40 hours per week) with overtime available
Salary:
£30,000 – £35,000 per/Annum (dependent on experience)
plus additional earning through bonuses and overtime
Key Responsibilities of a Mechanical Fitter
- Carry out sub-assembly production fitting and final assembly operations
- Assemble mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic components and sub-assemblies
- Produce fabricated assemblies of varying size and complexity, including marking out, cutting, folding, pipe bending, and weld joint preparation
- Install hydraulic and pneumatic systems as part of general production builds
- Verify complete assemblies for alignment, dimensions, and overall quality standards
- Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and maintain a safe working environment
Key Skills of a Mechanical Fitter
Essential:
- Solid engineering background with relevant industry experience
- Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings, general arrangement drawings, and sub-assembly drawings
- Competent use of hand and power tools for assembling both large and small fabricated components
- Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
Desirable:
- Experience in vehicle fabrication or fitting
- Background within aviation, military, marine, or similar industries
- Basic electrical assembly experience and ability to read electrical circuit drawings
