IT Technician

Location: Gloucester

Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 08.30-17.00, Fri 08.30-16.30, with a 1-hour lunch break)

Salary: £24,000 – £30,000 per annum, depending on experience


Key Responsibilities of a Junior IT Technician

  • Act as the first point of contact for technical issues after training, managing troubleshooting efforts, and ensuring swift resolutions.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes by facilitating IT setups for new starters and managing offboarding procedures.
  • Support employees with technology issues, hardware and software upgrades, and office equipment replacements.
  • Maintain IT documentation, including tracking tasks through a ticketing system, developing internal user guides, and updating troubleshooting documents.
  • Collaborate on additional projects and tasks as directed by the IT Manager.
  • Contribute to the smooth daily operations of the IT department.

Key Skills of a Junior IT Technician

  • Solid IT skills and knowledge of software such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English.
  • Ability to remain calm and logical when troubleshooting technical challenges.
  • Passion for learning new skills and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to anticipate potential issues.
  • Understanding of Windows operating systems.
  • Capability to resolve issues promptly to minimise downtime after training.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment (e.g., switches and servers).
  • Familiarity or knowledge of ENTRA/InTune.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with network fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of permissions management and administration, including Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of servers is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • 20 days of annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays and 1 day of Birthday Leave.
  • Pension scheme enrolment after 3 months of employment.
  • 6-month probation period.
