Job Title: H&S Engineer
Location: Stroud
Hours: Full time, early finish on Friday
Salary: £38,000 per annum

Job purpose:
To maintain the integrity of all Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) aspects of the company’s management system, ensuring compliance with international standards, legislation and company obligations. This role will drive continuous improvement initiatives, promote a positive HSE culture, and provide support across all HSE-related activities. The role also supports internal and external audits and contributes to the company’s HSE strategies and reporting.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Maintain and improve compliance with all HSE policies, procedures, and standards
• Develop and implement safety programmes across the site
• Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure legal and procedural compliance
• Raise and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in a timely manner
• Assist with accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and follow-up actions
• Conduct and communicate risk assessments and COSHH assessments
• Monitor and report on HSE performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement
• Maintain the company’s legal register and support compliance with relevant regulations
• Oversee site contractors, including permit to work systems and safe work documentation
• Deliver toolbox talks and support HSE-related training initiatives
• Support accreditation efforts for ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 through audit preparation and participation

Key skills and experience:

• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
• 1–2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent
• Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems
• Understanding of UK HSE legislation and regulatory compliance
• Trained Internal Auditor
• Confident in conducting accident investigations and root cause analysis
• 6S qualification desirable but not essential
