HSE Engineer 5719

Job Purpose

  • Maintain the integrity of all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) aspects of the company's Management System, ensuring compliance with relevant international standards, legal requirements, and other obligations.
  • Drive HSE continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Promote a positive HSE culture throughout the company.
  • Provide comprehensive support for all HSE-related matters within the company.
  • Support HSE accreditation efforts through internal and external audits, measuring sustainment and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in developing and implementing HSE strategies to meet the company's safety objectives.
  • Generate accurate and timely HSE reports.
  • Report to the HSE Manager on HSE-related matters and collaborate with local managers as needed.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement safety programs to maintain compliance and promote a safe work environment.
  • Support the execution of HSE policies and procedures.
  • Provide status updates and trend analysis efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct internal audits and workplace inspections to ensure compliance and identify non-conformances.
  • Raise Non-Conforming Records (NCR) as required and drive the timely closure of non-conformances.
  • Assist in accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and make recommendations to peers and line managers.
  • Investigate near-miss incidents and unsafe acts, identify trends, and suggest improvements.
  • Conduct, review, and communicate risk assessments with relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct, review, and communicate COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) risk assessments.
  • Assist in maintaining the company's legal register and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as the "Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007."
  • Oversee site contractors, including managing permits to work, risk assessments, and method statements for high-risk activities, and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping.
  • Provide toolbox talks and training sessions as needed to promote safety awareness.

Expertise

  • NEBOSH National General Certification in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • 1-2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Proficiency in accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • 6S qualification is desirable but not essential.
