Financial Controller
Location: Cirencester, Gloucestershire
Hours: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum + benefits
We’re looking for a Financial Controller — but not the usual kind.
This role blends finance, systems, compliance, and process improvement. You’ll oversee the finance function while playing a key role in the rollout of a new ERP system, helping to modernise how the business operates.

About the Role
This position combines finance leadership with business systems ownership, offering a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys structure, detail, and problem-solving. You’ll be responsible for the full finance function while also assisting in the implementation of the ERP shaping how processes, data, and reporting work for years to come.
Key Responsibilities of a Financial Controller:
- Lead month-end close, reconciliations, and management reporting
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and revenue recognition
- Manage stock and inventory accounting, including quarterly counts and variance analysis
- Prepare VAT, PAYE, and NI returns, and support year-end accounts and compliance
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external accountants and advisors
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Drive system and process improvements across finance and operations
- Monitor daily cash balances, working capital, and bank reconciliations
- Process payroll for office staff and manage credit insurance cover
- Supervise and develop members of the finance team
- Champion the implementation and ongoing use of Prophet 21 (Epicor ERP)
Key Skills of a Financial Controller:
- Proven experience in finance management (Financial Controller or similar)
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial controls expertise
- ATT or equivalent financial qualification
- Experience with stock and inventory accounting (advantageous but not essential)
- Confident using finance and ERP/accounting systems (Epicor Prophet 21 experience beneficial)
- Excellent organisation, accuracy, and analytical ability
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work across all levels
- A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach
