Electronics Quality Engineer

Location: Staverton, Gloucestershire 

Hours: Monday–Thursday: 08:00–16:30 (or 07:30–16:00), Friday: 08:00–15:00 (or 07:30–14:30)

Brief overview of the job role:
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with an electronic bias to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of externally sourced PCBAs, leading investigations into any faults, determining root causes, and recommending corrective actions. This role requires close collaboration with suppliers to ensure compliance with relevant standards and continuous improvement in quality processes.
 

Key responsibilities of a Quality Engineer:

  • Lead investigations into non-conformance reports (NCRs) for faults in received PCBAs, conducting thorough analyses to identify root causes using technical expertise.
  • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions based on investigation findings, ensuring they are effectively executed.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers and external manufacturers to address quality issues, drive improvements, and ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Act as a liaison between internal teams (production, engineering, and operations) and external partners to resolve quality-related concerns promptly.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of investigations, actions taken, and findings for audits, traceability, and continuous improvement.
     

Key skills of a Quality Engineer:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality engineering role, specifically in the electronics industry or with external suppliers of PCBAs.
  • Strong expertise in quality control, inspections, and troubleshooting of PCBAs.
  • Proficiency in using electronic diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Knowledge of PCB design, assembly processes, and electronic standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, UL standards).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Strong documentation skills for recording quality-related activities, investigations, and outcomes.
