Design Engineer 6700
Location: Nailsworth, Stroud
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 DOE
Key Responsibilities of a Design Engineer:
- Undertake design work on aviation-related engineering contracts, analysing specifications and producing accurate technical drawings
- Design and detail aircraft refuelling vehicles and associated equipment
- Modify, update, and improve existing designs
- Prepare 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor
- Generate engineering proposals, tender documentation, BOMs, and costings
- Liaise with production, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure designs are fit for manufacture
- Support project management from concept through to delivery
- Assist with testing, QA, and commissioning of equipment
- Supervise shop floor personnel where required
Key Skills of a Design Engineer:
- Minimum HNC in Mechanical & Production Engineering or BEng / MEng in Mechanical Engineering
- Proven experience in a design engineering role within an engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication, and GD&T
- Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software (AutoCAD & Inventor)
- Experience with data management software (Autodesk Vault)
- Understanding of fluid dynamics, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Competent with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work to short deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach
