Class 1 HGV Driver

Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (some weekend work required – time off in lieu provided)
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Class 1 HGV Driver to support the safe and reliable transportation of equipment and stock to venues and sites across the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities of a Class 1 HGV Driver

• Drive Class 1 vehicles to deliver and collect equipment and stock.
• Follow planned routes and delivery schedules.
• Load and unload vehicles safely in line with procedures.
• Complete pre-use vehicle checks and record inspections accurately.
• Ensure compliance with road traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Maintain delivery and collection records using digital systems.
• Assist with equipment set-up and breakdown when required.
• Provide a professional and customer-focused delivery service.
• Drive alternative company vehicles when operationally required.
• Work flexible hours, including early starts, weekends, and nights away.

Key Skills of a Class 1 HGV Driver

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) driving licence with a clean record.
• Minimum of 2 years’ Class 1 driving experience.
• Valid Driver CPC.
• Strong understanding of road safety and transport regulations.
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling.
• High attention to detail with accurate paperwork completion.
• Confident using mobile or app-based systems.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable, professional, and safety-focused approach.
