First Base Employment are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced CNC Milling Setter / Operator to join their Manufacturing Department in Derby.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Milling Setter / Operator with proven experience within a high-precision manufacturing environment to join an established team and develop their skills further.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling machines, ensuring components are produced efficiently, accurately and in line with the required quality and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities of a CNC Miller Setter Operator:

  • Use and control CNC programmes in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Read and understand CNC code to the level required for machine setting and operation.
  • Understand and adjust set-up parameters, including datum setting, tool length and tool wear offsets.
  • Set up CNC milling machines using the required workholding and tooling.
  • Edit CNC programmes where required.
  • Complete machining operations efficiently and accurately in line with Job Card instructions and required output levels.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the required quality and engineering standards.

Key skills of a CNC Miller Setter Operator:

  • Previous experience working to Aerospace standards.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Milling Setter / Operator.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience setting and operating Heidenhain-controlled CNC milling machines.
  • Experience working within a high-precision, low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Ideally around 3 years' experience in a similar CNC Milling Setter / Operator position.
  • Ideally apprentice trained with relevant engineering qualifications.
  • Good understanding of CNC programming, offsets, tooling and machine set-up.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently within a precision engineering environment.
  • Demonstrates values aligned with Respect, Integrity, Safety and Excellence.
