Key Responsibilities of a Senior Design Engineer:

  • Interpret customer specifications and develop engineered design solutions
  • Produce 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and bills of materials
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical analysis
  • Conduct FEA analysis and validate design performance
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and customer requirements
  • Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing
  • Review drawings and BOMs for accuracy
  • Participate in continuous improvement and product development activities
  • Mentor and support junior engineers
  • Represent the engineering function at customer and internal meetings
  • Deputise for the Principal Engineer when required

Key Skills of a Senior Design Engineer:

  • Degree or recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong 3D CAD design experience
  • Experience designing high-pressure equipment
  • Knowledge of API, ISO, PED and ASME design standards
  • Experience carrying out engineering calculations and FEA
  • Understanding of DFM and DFA principles
  • Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes
  • Experience using MRP systems and engineering databases
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
