Assistant Management Accountant
Location: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
Hours: Part-time (3 days per week)
Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 per annum pro rata
Key Responsibilities of an Assistant Management Accountant:

Deliver monthly management accounts, performance updates, budget monitoring, and forecasting information.

Support the preparation of annual external audit files and statutory account compilation.

Oversee transactional finance activities and review the work of the Finance Assistant.

Maintain key balance sheet reconciliations and the fixed asset register, including accurate recording of additions, disposals, depreciation, and class allocations.

Manage payroll processes and approval workflows.
-
Ensure timely and accurate submission of Gift Aid claims.

Produce monthly management accounts and internal stakeholder reports.
-
Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and other statutory returns.
-
Produce reports for funders and external stakeholders, as needed.

Support the Head of Finance with:

Annual financial statements and audit prep
-
Budget setting, reforecasting, and performance monitoring

Assist in reviewing and improving financial processes across the organisation.

Present financial information in a clear and accessible format to the Senior Management Team (SMT).

Provide financial support for specific charity projects.
-
Respond to financial queries from internal teams to support efficient operations.
-
Help the finance team meet KPIs and performance targets.
Key Skills of an Assistant Management Accountant:

Strong organisational skills and methodical work style

Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability

Proficient in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online

Confident communicator and stakeholder relationship builder

Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work in a collaborative team environment

Strong problem-solving skills and good judgement on when to involve others

Ability to simplify complex financial information for non-finance colleagues
Education and Experience:
-
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or part-qualified)
-
Experience in a Management Accountant role
-
Experience preparing monthly accounts and annual financial information
-
Knowledge of HMRC & VAT regulations
-
Experience in the charity sector is desirable
