Precision Toolmaker 

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset 

Hours: Full Time | Permanent

This hands-on role focuses on precision toolmaking to tight tolerances, supporting production agility, equipment reliability, and site safety. By ensuring tools are manufactured to exacting standards and delivered on time, the role enables the business to respond rapidly to new orders and designs while maintaining the highest levels of quality and efficiency. 

Key Responsibilities of a Precision Toolmaker: 

• Manufacture and refurbish high-precision, low-tolerance tooling using both manual and CNC equipment. 

• Collaborate with design teams to develop new tooling solutions based on engineering drawings. 

• Provide creative solutions to manufacturing challenges and propose innovations to improve processes. 

• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment by following all safety protocols. 

• Support the maintenance team with various activities as requested. 

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency. 

• Assist in developing colleagues, including mentoring apprentices and sharing technical expertise. 

Key Skills of a Precision Toolmaker: 

• Manual & CNC milling and turning (with emphasis on specific proprietary machines desirable). 

• High attention to detail and ability to work to extremely tight tolerances. 

• Strong task prioritisation and time management skills. 

• Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. 

• Clear communication and ability to collaborate across functions. 

• Initiative-driven with an innovative mindset. 

• Meticulous and responsible with a proactive and decisive approach. 

• Flexible and a strong team player. 

• Apprentice-trained engineering qualification or equivalent technical certification.
