NPD Raw Material Coordinator

Location: Clevedon

Hours: Monday – Thursday: 08:45 – 16:45, Friday: 08:45 – 16:00 (including a 45-minute paid lunch and early finish on Friday)

Key Responsibilities of an NPD Raw Material Coordinator:

Working as part of the NPD team, you will play a key role in sourcing and managing raw materials to support the development of innovative seasonings and flavours. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing and Management:

    • Proactively source new and provenance ingredients to enhance product development.
    • Work closely with suppliers to gather key technical information and ensure compliance with industry standards.
    • Evaluate and approve replacement raw materials for seasoning applications.
    • Maintain and manage the NPD raw materials library, ensuring all materials are within shelf life and representative of production stock.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Represent the NPD team in raw material meetings, ensuring alignment between product development and supply chain availability.
    • Work with the Technical and Supply Chain teams to resolve raw material issues and streamline approval processes for new ingredients.
    • Keep the wider NPD team informed of any changes in raw material availability or status.
  • Product Development & Quality Assurance:

    • Monitor the status of raw materials within the system and ensure they are suitable for use in new and existing recipes.
    • Support production during scale-up trials of new products, ensuring raw materials perform as expected.
    • Participate in taste panels to assess the quality and consistency of production batches.
    • Check the status of raw materials in recipes before scaling up for production.
  • Administrative & Process Management:

    • Maintain accurate records of raw materials, recipes, and approval processes.
    • Ensure all documentation related to raw material approvals is up to date.
    • Assist in producing samples and supporting paperwork for customer submissions.

Key Skills of an NPD Raw Material Coordinator:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in ingredient sourcing and new product development (NPD).
  • A keen eye for detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve raw material challenges.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, working across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade B or above).
  • A full UK working right and a clean driving licence.
