Workshop Technician/Mechanical Fitter

Location: Oxford

Working Hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday 08:00am – 16:30pm

Salary: £25,000 – £33,000

We are currently seeking a Workshop Technician/Mechanical Fitter to join our client’s team. This role involves building and assembling all mechanical components on bespoke aircraft refuelling vehicles. Candidates with a background in plant engineering, ex-forces, HGV, or similar fields are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities of a Workshop Technician/Mechanical Fitter:

  • Assemble and install mechanical components on custom-built aircraft refuelling vehicles.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, grinders, and riveting equipment.
  • Interpret engineering data, such as drawings and schematics.
  • Perform basic fabrication tasks and adhere to safety protocols.

Key Skills of a Workshop Technician/Mechanical Fitter:

  • Experience in vehicle building (HGV experience preferred).
  • Competence in using hand and power tools.
  • Basic fabrication and Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a car.

Highly Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Welding (TIG/MIG).
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience with aircraft refuelling vehicles (advantageous).
