Mechanical Design Engineer 

Location: Nailsworth, Stroud

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00

Salary: £36,000 to £40,000 DOE + Benefits

Our client is a leading manufacturing company looking to expand their well-established workforce!

They have an exciting position for a Design Engineer to assist with the production of new designs and modify and update existing designs by producing accurate technical drawings. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist engineering company with a global reputation in the aviation industry. The successful candidate will be involved in mechanical and electrical design, utilising 3D AutoCAD or Solidworks, with opportunities for professional growth and skills development.

Key Responsibilities of a Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Design and detailing of Aircraft Refuelling vehicles and associated equipment.
• Creation of engineering proposals and generation of tender documents from customer specifications.
• Selection of components, compilation of BOMs and costings.
• Communication of preliminary designs to Sales & Design teams.
• Preparation of 3D CAD data & 2D manufacturing drawings using Inventor & AutoCAD.
• Project management of contracts from concept through to delivery.
• Supervision of shop floor personnel.

Key Skills of a Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Minimum HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering or MEng/BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in a design role in an engineering environment.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication, and GD&T.
• Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD packages (specifically AutoCAD & Inventor) and data management software (AutoDesk Vault).
• Understanding of fluid dynamics, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong team player with the ability to work to short deadlines.
• Conversant with Microsoft Office products.
