Lead Design Engineer

Location:  Nailsworth

Hours:  Full-Time Monday to Friday

Salary:  Up to £50,000 DOE + Benefits

Our client manufacture world-class aviation re-fuelling systems, at our site in Nailsworth, Stroud.

Key Responsibilities of a Lead Design Engineer

• Managing a team of design engineers
• Design and detailing of Aircraft Refuelling vehicles and associated equipment
• Creation of engineering proposals
• Generation of tender documents from customer specifications
• Selection of components, compilation of BOMs and costings
• Communication of preliminary designs to both Sales & the customer
• Preparation of 3D CAD data & 2D manufacturing drawings using Inventor & AutoCAD
• Project management of contracts from concept through to delivery

Key Skills of a Lead Design Engineer

• Candidates must have a minimum of an HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering or MEng / BEng in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in a design role in an engineering environment
• Knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication and GD&T
• Experience using 2D & 3D CAD packages specifically AutoCAD & Inventor and data management software (AutoDesk Vault)
  An understanding of fluid dynamics, pneumatics and hydraulic systems
• Good communication skills, both written and oral
• Conversant with Microsoft Office products
• Ability to work to short deadlines
