Role/Responsibilities

The Metrology Engineer will be responsible for provision of a measurement service for the global Plastics Group as part of the new product development lifecycle.  This includes, but is not limited to, inspection of prototype, qualification and production sample parts or tooling elements and data analysis and management

Main Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Support the development of inspection methods through review of the product design, the capabilities of the inspection equipment and suitability of application. 
  • Conduct Qualifications of inspection methods of various types using Measurement Systems Analysis, providing guidance to other team members as required
  • Generate clear, concise inspection reports meeting the requirements of Good Documentation Practice and other internal standards
  • Apply appropriate statistical tools to data to allow for identification of statistical measures
  • Act as a point of contact for project leaders, designers, or other disciplines for inspection matters
  • Lead activities within the metrology team
  • Contribute as a team member on development projects carrying out assigned responsibilities in a timely, diligent, safe, and professional manner
  • Support the organization's intellectual property strategy by documenting data and independent, unique and patentable ideas that results from experimentations and concept generation activities
  • Ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally-friendly workplace by observing Company's procedures and corresponding regulations

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, Master's degree preferred
  • Ideally 7+ years relevant experience in a precision inspection environment
  • Able to identify, break down and solve a variety of difficult technical problems
  • Demonstrable experience in creation, qualification and fault-finding of metrology methods
  • Experience with Minitab (ideally) or similar statistical analysis tools
  • Disciplined and well-organized in documentation (plans, requirements, drawings, design reviews, and test methods)
  • Experience working with ISO requirements and other relevant guidelines and regulations
  • Team player with good communication skills, able to mentor other team members

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Bonus: 10% of basic salary based on MIP Bonus Program
