Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Stroud
Hours: Mon – Thurs 7.00am – 3.45pm, Fri 7.00am – 12.45pm
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum, 25 days holiday, 12% pension, 3x Salary Life assurance plus much more.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements, optimise production efficiency, and support continuous improvement across our CNC machine shop. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking engineering environment with a strong focus on lean principles, quality, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optimise manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput.
- Lead improvement projects to increase OEE, recover productive hours, reduce NCRs, and minimise tooling costs.
- Evaluate and implement automated and manual systems to enhance manufacturing performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address production issues.
- Review and write SOPs to ensure safe and efficient machining practices.
- Introduce and apply lean manufacturing tools to eliminate waste and streamline workflows.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve manufacturing issues and support new product introductions.
- Project manage the design, installation, and commissioning of new capital equipment.
- Analyse downtime, cycle times, and resource utilisation to drive performance improvements.
- Review layouts and workflows to maximise space and efficiency.
- Train shop floor teams in new and existing processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Support maintenance, calibration, and repairs to ensure equipment reliability.
- Monitor process adherence and escalate concerns where necessary.
- Report performance insights and improvement recommendations to the management team.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role, ideally within a CNC/machine shop environment.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and optimise machining processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
- Experience in project management and implementing CAPEX projects.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline
