Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Stroud
Hours: Mon – Thurs 7.00am – 3.45pm, Fri 7.00am – 12.45pm
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum, 25 days holiday, 12% pension, 3x Salary Life assurance plus much more.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements, optimise production efficiency, and support continuous improvement across our CNC machine shop. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking engineering environment with a strong focus on lean principles, quality, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimise manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Lead improvement projects to increase OEE, recover productive hours, reduce NCRs, and minimise tooling costs.
  • Evaluate and implement automated and manual systems to enhance manufacturing performance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address production issues.
  • Review and write SOPs to ensure safe and efficient machining practices.
  • Introduce and apply lean manufacturing tools to eliminate waste and streamline workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve manufacturing issues and support new product introductions.
  • Project manage the design, installation, and commissioning of new capital equipment.
  • Analyse downtime, cycle times, and resource utilisation to drive performance improvements.
  • Review layouts and workflows to maximise space and efficiency.
  • Train shop floor teams in new and existing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Support maintenance, calibration, and repairs to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Monitor process adherence and escalate concerns where necessary.
  • Report performance insights and improvement recommendations to the management team.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role, ideally within a CNC/machine shop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and optimise machining processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
  • Experience in project management and implementing CAPEX projects.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline
