Business Development Manager

Location: Remote (with occasional visits to Gloucester office)
Hours: Full-time
Salary: £50,000+ per annum (depending on experience) + commission + benefits


Key Responsibilities of a Business Development Manager

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, markets, clients, partnerships, products, and services while maintaining existing relationships.
  • Develop and build customer relationships and manage expectations.
  • Identify and quantify network operator projects and secure sales orders from telecom network operators.
  • Present telecommunications solutions to potential users, proactively showcasing the value proposition.
  • Attend industry events and conferences to network and promote products and services.
  • Build relationships and stay up-to-date with industry trends, new products, and technologies.
  • Create sales forecasts, work towards achieving them, and present updates to the senior management team.
  • Actively participate in completing tender applications.
  • Deliver sales presentations, both online and in person, to prospective and existing customers.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to find solutions for customer needs.

Key Skills of a Business Development Manager

  • Proven track record in business development and sales, ideally within the telecoms sector.
  • Strong understanding of the company’s products and industry competition.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to execute initiatives.
  • Solid IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical analysis tools.
  • Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and motivate oneself.
  • Technical aptitude to propose solutions tailored to client requirements.
  • Research skills to stay updated with telecom industry standards, trends, and insights.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Management experience or a relevant degree (e.g., Marketing, Business Administration).
  • Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Business: Sales & Marketing or Level 3 Award in Sales Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in the telecoms sector.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Basic salary starting at £50,000 per annum (depending on experience).
  • Commission package.
  • Car allowance.
  • Laptop and mobile phone provided.
  • 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays + 1 day birthday leave.
  • Pension scheme enrollment after 3 months.
  • 6-month probation period.
